MY BACKGROUND

I am a highly-motivated and dedicated Speech-Language Pathology student at Rush University with a background in theater. I have a wide range of clinical experience including voice, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), and working with the LGBTQ+ community. In addition, I am currently running a qualitative research project into the attitudes of transmasculine people towards voice.

  • Supporting students aged 4-13 with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) anda range of developmental delays to improve speech, communication, and feeding

  • Using DIR/Floortime approach to increase regulation, engagement, and shared attention

  • Using LAMP Words for Life on communication boards and devices to increase total communication for children with ASD and apraxia of speech

  • Evaluating speech and language using a variety of standardized assessments including CELF-5 and GFTA-3

  • Performing voice evaluations using CSL software, including ADSV and MDVP

  • Assessing dysphagia via clinical swallow evals and VFSS

  • Qualitative research study into the attitudes and experiences of transmasculine people with regards to voice and voice therapy

  • Recruiting 6-8 participants in Fall 2021

  • Conducting semi-structured interviews 

  • Performing content analysis on interviews to synthesize common themes

  • Thesis defence expected in spring 2022
